This is probably the one question we’ve all asked ourselves too often…usually after working 18 hours on a crap movie no one wants to see. The reality is, we need to eat and pay the mortgage and we need to develop skills as we go. For rookies in the business, it’s better to make mistakes learning on shit shows than to screw up a great project and risk your reputation lol. This is where you make contacts who will stay with you for many years to come as your improve and build a career. In my perfect world, doing your best will get you noticed, whether it’s on a pretentious short film or a shlocky series. I’d like to dig into Haskell Wexler’s past to see how many bad projects are buried in his youth. I’ll bet he has a few
