INSPIRATION: Expressive Sand Animation

I have seen sand art done before but never to tell a sad history of a people or nation or really any expressive coherent story at all. I was so impressed by the skill and vigor this woman shows within her work.

I came across this video today of artist Kseniya Simonova, winner of Ukraine’s Got Talent, doing sand art/sand animation on the show and was struck by its beauty but also by its effectiveness that I felt I must post it.

I’ve often asked myself the common question: What is Art? What this woman displays is most definitely art in an unconventional and very touching way. The skill within her hand movements and gestures are so minuscule and controlled but also fast and precise. I was unbelievably impressed. You can watch it below.

Did you like it? How did you feel about it?
