About Us

Welcome to Art Departmental! We celebrate the art and craft of production design.

If you’re looking to learn more about Art Departmental you’ve come to the right place. Art Departmental is our attempt to help others get excited about production design for film and television while learning what we do in the art department, why we do it, and how we do it so well. We are determined that no one starting out in the art department ever feel alone on their journey. We’re here for you. We want you to succeed.

The mission of Art Departmental is to create inspired content, provide quality resources, and connect film and television creatives in a constructive environment. We are building an art department community around the idea that production design matters.

Art Departmental aims to make accessible a thorough understanding of the art department and production design to all whom are interested.

It’s really that simple: inspired content + quality resources + community connection

The royal “we” is really just our founder and editor, Rose Lagacé. To learn more about Rose and her art department journey, click here. In addition to Rose, we have various assorted contributors who we reach out to occasionally for insightful new content. If you are interested in contributing to our site, let us know here. We are also in the process of adding dynamic new interns to our team three times a year which you can read about here.
