What’s in a Meme? Production Design Meme

This week everyone decided to start posting the same meme layout all over the internet about “What people think you do for a living”. A meme is “an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.” A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices in this case being the “What People Think I Do” meme. I found it particularly interesting when I started seeing the production design meme and the art department taking part as I do believe people really don’t know what we do. Even major producers don’t know what we do.

Did you see any other ones that you liked? Luckily these memes are dead as they are getting old but what did you think of the meme?

  1. Rose,

Love this!!! Yes people think design is soooo easy and something they can do for themselves…until they screw it up and need a designer to come to their rescue. Brilliant!

    1. Exactly. They have no idea that design is actually about fixing problems and not just aesthetics. I’m glad you liked the post. Cheers 🙂
